We aim to foster a community where every student can thrive, form meaningful connections, and create lasting memories that define both their personal and professional journeys.

With every event, welfare initiative, and education program, we work to empower and support our ALM student cohort.

Led by students, for students, DMSAA is committed to creating a connected and inclusive environment that meets the unique needs of our diverse community.

DMSAA is the new OUMSA ALM

DMSAA is an independent association from OUMSA. OUMSA still exists to advocate for our ELM (pre-clinical) medical students and we are still maintaining a collaborative relationship with our ELM colleagues.

Otago Medical School students do 2 pre-clinical years followed by 3 clinical years

Pre-Clinical = Early Learning in Medicine (ELM)

Clinical = Advanced Learning in Medicine (ALM)

ADVOCACY

DMSAA supports ALM students, making sure your needs and concerns are heard and addressed by the medical school.

Communication & Collaboration

We value communication, transparency, & inclusivity - working with you to shape events and resources through your feedback.

BALANCE

Balance is key for DMSAA - healthy work-life balance is vital to succeed academically and personally during this med school journey.
